Welcome

I feel both honored and excited to invite you to the 22nd Congress of the European Shock Society (ESS) from September 15th to 17th, 2027 in Cologne, Germany. Following the years 2008 and 2015, the upcoming congress is already the third to take place in the UNESCO cathedral city on the beautiful Rhine river right in the heart of Europe; and one can almost speak of a tradition for the ESS family to make a stop in Cologne. New technologies are profoundly changing science and help to analyze and integrate data more quickly thereby offering unique opportunities to solve complex problems in the future. On the other hand, essential aspects of shock development and genesis remain poorly understood and their further processing requires, not least, established procedures and models.

The biennial congresses of the ESS, in the usual way, offer an optimal platform for multidisciplinary and – dimensional exchange among leading scientists and clinicians in the field shock, trauma, sepsis and/or allied disciplines in critical care. I wholeheartly invite you to submit your abstracts and contributions, and encourage your active involvement in what promises to be an intellectually enriching experience for all.
