ESS – Summer School 2027 „ From Scene to Science: ESS Summer School on Emergency and Trauma Care”

Wednesday, 15 September, 12 – 5 pm
Ostmerheimer Str. 200, 51109 Köln

The upcoming ESS Summer School will bring together young clinicians and researchers for an intensive day dedicated to emergency medicine and translational trauma research. This interactive summer school is scheduled for the day before the ESS meeting in 2027, i.e., September 15, and early-career researchers, doctoral candidates, students, and young physicians are invited to attend. Building on the last year’s successful format, the program will combine clinical case discussions with hands on training modules and interactive scientific sessions. Participants will work in small groups and follow a complex trauma scenario throughout the day, allowing them to connect prehospital care, emergency surgery, ICU management, and research perspectives in a structured way.

Clinician scientists will guide sessions on acute care strategies, post traumatic inflammation, and critical care decision making. A dedicated research module will highlight current projects within the FOR5417-2 research group and showcase innovative approaches in trauma science. The Summer School aims to foster interdisciplinary thinking, strengthen practical skills as ATLS protocols and hemorrhage control techniques, and encourage scientific curiosity among emerging professionals. In addition to the academic program, participants will have opportunities for networking and exchange in a collegial atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming motivated participants to a dynamic and inspiring day of learning, collaboration, and discovery.
